Honda H22A 1992-2001 Complete Engine – OEM 2.2L DOHC VTEC

The Honda H22A is a 2.2L DOHC VTEC inline-four that powered the Prelude across its fourth and fifth generations (1992–2001), along with a limited run of JDM Accord SiR and Euro R/Type R variants (CL1 chassis, 1997–2002). Redline runs to 7,200 RPM (7,800 on Type S/Type R), with 190–220 horsepower depending on variant, a forged steel crank and rods, and VTEC crossover at 5,200 RPM. Displacement is 2,156cc, naturally aspirated across every variant.

Despite sharing displacement with the F22 family, the H22A is a distinct architecture — the DOHC VTEC head, bore/stroke, rod ratio, and forged bottom end are unique to the H22 series. It was never a factory fitment in the Civic, Integra, CR-X, or Del Sol, but its compact dimensions and B-series-style mounting have made it the most common high-performance swap into all four chassis using off-the-shelf mount kits.
